Artist Statement (Mac Miller)

Defining yourself in society is something that can be challenging and hard to do at times. Different climates, different people, different medians, different people etc. All underlying factors that pave a pivotal way in deciding what character it is you want to be in life, what kind of person you inspire to be, what you want  and expect to do with your life. Many get consumed by the real-world, UN-expectantly and do not know what to do, some embrace it and flourish, others live in solitude, in the shadows of the dark expressing how they truly feel to one's self . My piece "Mac Miller" is intended to express and show  the standards of what society accepts you to be and secondly the demeaning behaviors that many do not express due to certain stipulations. As humans in society, one must come to realization that, it's okay to be going through things, it's okay to hide your feelings, it's okay to be original, be unique. What's not okay is to have an issue, yet to not express it and live in pain.  Make sure everyone around you is mentally, physically, and spiritually stable. Live life freely, acknowledging that it's okay to be different, it's okay to be you, it's okay to get help. Self expression is an art that was given to us, free of charge. Why not be great? Why not live life to the fullest? Why not enjoy the things that people may fault you for? Why not be YOU?

For my Grid Art project I took a different approach. I wanted to capture multiple elements of art in one project, thus I incorporated different aspects of art. I thought to myself, what will capture the visual aesthetics of other humans and their artistic vision. Performing Art Piece w/ Malia

The performing art piece I chose to do with my partner Malia B. was one that should inspire many. At first I had no idea of what I wanted to do. I thought about a music video, but how can I be apart of a performance and put a twist on it. Thus, forth I decided to seek a partner or partners. In class me and Malia coordinated amongst ourselves when we meet. We met here on campus in the Music Department in the instrument portion of the building. I coordinated with an old professor about performing and getting together a group of students to join us. Inspired also by a famous producer know as TheGoat 808, he has challenge that you say or yell, "How you gunna be a GOAT and you don't GO OUT AND TRY!" Got it, easy pickings.
