Final Instructions

In order to make this installation functional you must first ensure there is ample amount of room spacing suited and geared for a big audience, you must then account and take into consideration how many chairs you think would be suitable for the occasion. With that in mind, arrange the chairs in an orderly fashion, as if watching an improv comedy show. To ensure the proper lightning for the designation, a switch board is essential for the overhead lighting. When utilizing the switch board which controls the lights (brightness), be sure to find and or make custom light settings with the slider knobs suitable , to capture the ambiance of the stage. The project in itself can take up an entire 2 door garage space wise. So the more space the better.

Keep in mind, you must accommodate for the unexpected audience size and factor in the walking space for the artist or artists. Once the lights are at a setting of comfort, the chairs are setup for the audience, and the space is ample, you should then plug in all accessories, necessities, and or electronic devices. At least one of two extension cords are ideal, however one is suffice. Plug in all devices to include: Glow Lamp, Microphone Amp, Projector, and mount any additional devices being used for recording purposes. The stage should be coming together and looking like a setup for an open mic performance.

Place the Microphone Amp at least 10 feet behind the designated location of the artists’ work-space  to eliminate any feedback and or white noise. Be mindful, all artist are not the same. Some artist tend to walk around, as others prefer to sit-down comfortably in a stool or any other provided furniture. Everything technical wise should be setup, however there are multiple items to be included. Locate and place Projector Screen 1 to the offset of the musicians’ right shoulder. The projector should be tucked away in the corner, offset to the artists position in the middle. Be sure to setup any other additional posters and or projectors, identical to the main projector. At this point you should have chairs, lightning, devices, projectors, and projector screens in place and setup. Once Projector Screen 1 is setup, if necessary, using additional projector screens, make sure they are all in line with each other 1 in the left corner, 1 in the right. The projectors should be tucked away in both corners at an angle to enhance the performance(s).

Lastly if using multiple projectors and or if one, place the projector in a position to reflect on the projector screen of choice. Depending how you setup the installation layout, this can be different and many scenarios. Check the functionality of the projectors and find which projector screen and or poster/ object that you intend to project on to. Setup each projector screen angled at the position of comfort and the installation is set. At this point there should be a projection screen on the right, the left, and a main screen (stage backdrop). Center the projector in the middle ideally to capture the entirety of all three screens. At this point the projector should be pointed directly at the center screen or projection screen of choice.

Setup the microphone amp simply by plugging it into an extension cord (additional length) or the nearest wall outlet. On the Amp, be sure to hit the power switch located in the back. A red light will pop on in the front . You have successfully turned the amp on. From this point, adjust the volume level of the overall microphone output. Keep in consideration the dynamics of the given space and adjust the meters accordingly. Once all this is setup, the last thing you will need for your installation to be complete, is the audio/music. Be sure to plug up the main audio either via a laptop, or a liver mixer. If the provided space is equipped with speakers, connect to the switch board based on CPU compatibility. Test the volumes of the overall music sound. If a live mixer is present, be sure to have them stand opposite of where the artist are centered on stage. If looking forward from both positions, both the mixer and musician or artist should be facing each other ->           <- like such.

To ensure that this project is maintainable everyday, power down the projectors to turn them off at the end of each day. This will preserve the battery life of the projectors and keep them in pristine condition. Be sure to cover it and wrap all of the cords precisely. Exit out of the program Map- Mapper, to stop the video loop. Remember to unplug all electronics and to properly power down each additional item used for the presentation. If needed in the future, you will need repeat these steps everyday for the projectors and laptops. Be sure to charge all necessities, keeping in mind that you will have to reopen and Madmapper each time for the specific installation. BE sure to return and or collapse the projector screens to their original state. Set aside the stand holders, if any. Place the chairs in an orderly fashion out of plain site, for future performances.
